TOBIE & MATT ASIA sees best mates, chef Tobie Puttock (Restaurant Fifteen Melbourne and Jamie's Kitchen Australia) and sommelier and wine writer Matt Skinner (Head of wine operations for Restaurant Fifteen Group and author of The Juice) reunited for a brand new four-part series.
This time they’re taking their backpacks to China and Thailand for the second series of their food, wine and travel show.
In each area they find expat Aussies, friends of friends or locals who have spent time in Australia to act as their local guides and mentors. They then set themselves the challenge of taking just a few days to immerse themselves in the culture and absorb the local sights, flavours, wines and cooking styles.
In Thailand, Tobie and guest chefs recreate favourite Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Thai Beef Salad and in China they prepare classics that will make you reconsider takeaways forever.
Matt selects local wines or internationally available alternatives from all over the world as suggestions to go with the locally inspired dishes. Tobie and Matt then share their dishes and wine matches with their hosts and mentors.
A real journey of discovery, their quick assimilation of the local flavours in each destination gives the viewer a fantastic insight into the local food and wine, while giving the guys a challenge to put their knowledge to the test.
