While inner city nosh spots claw each other for the foodie dollar, competition is even fiercer in the suburbs. Tonight’s competing father/daughter restaurant teams have high hopes and big dreams…but can’t find customers to share their vision!
Ristorante Mambo Italiano - was opened by the Giandinoto family 18months ago. Joseph (chef) his wife Liliana (manager) and 22 year old daughter Milania live together, work together and play together. So far there has been little pay off for the family’s hard work. Father/Daughter have just trademarked their signature dish – the pizza nappa; and believe that one day there will be a Mambo Italiano next to every McDonalds around the world. Milania adores everything about her father and wants to share with Australia, the food she has been privileged enough to eat her whole life.
Spargos Espresso - is a family run business that has never really picked up over the three years it has been open. Located in the local shopping centre, owner Joe Parnis and his daughter, Jess, have tried redecorating and running promotions to lure in new customers but have had no luck so far. Currently, the majority of customers are shoppers who pop in for a coffee after doing their groceries at Safeway, not locals looking for a delicious meal. There is no dominant décor to suggest that customers should return for a dinner service.
Which of our desperate Dads and Daughters can turn their fortunes around? Find out…as they face the chopping block …
