Hear ye..hear ye…the battle lines have been drawn in the Victorian township of Berwick, as we await the starters pistol on the food fight to end all food fights. Reputations are on the line, financial futures are at stake, as our two teams face The Chopping Block.
The Courthouse - is the tale of a modern Australian restaurant going down the gurgler due to a lack of leadership from its immature (yet 46yo) chief Tim, who seems more interested in winning the hearts of his young female staff than pulling them into line. As a consequence, his crew openly disrespect him (poorly promoting his food and even hiding from him during service). Located in a beautiful, heritage building in old world Berwick, the passionate foodie blames The Courthouse’s austere, chandelier-lit interior/ museum exterior – and the snobby people of Berwick who “don’t get” his food – for his business slide.
Hotel Eden - first opened its doors in February this year, but after numerous blunders and customer complaints, the restaurant side of the business never really took off. Currently, Hotel Eden is known in Berwick for its dance parties, like ‘Luscious’ on a Friday night. However, co-owner Jeremy, who was previously an alcohol sales rep, would really like to see the restaurant trade pick up. Unfortunately for him, in having such a strong hold on the party scene; his Food and Promotions Manager, Clay, has concentrated more on promoting the night scene than on the kitchen, leaving Jeremy to pick up the pieces despite the fact he does not have any restaurant experience.
Let the ‘Battle for Berwick’ begin…
