Homestyle Hellhole

Series 2 · Episode 5

Melbourne is Australia’s dining capital so standing out from the pack is not easy. Tonight’s competing couples thought they had the magic meal ticket… but it’s not working out. Morri’s Place is the story of a loud but lovable couple Morri and Michelle Binko – once successful restaurant owners with “queues out the door” – who are panicking that their business is going under. Both in their 60s, the over-worked pair are spiralling into debt and have borrowed money off family to survive. If things don’t pick up soon, they’ll have to close. At stake – their financial future (at an age when most are planning retirement) and quality of life (Michelle is exhausted and stressed Morri has already suffered 2 heart attacks). The problem? Morri’s too proud and stubborn to admit they need help/ accept they need to change within. Pizza Piazza opened 5 years ago by newly married couple, Fred and Sharon Eldawlity. The plan was to grow a profitable business so they could start a family. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone to plan, and Fred and Sharon are now the parents of two little girls, in debt and living upstairs from the restaurant. The restaurant is located at the funky end of Chapel Street but in its current state, the restaurant looks sterile and doesn’t provide a friendly atmosphere. In order to invigorate their business, Pizza Piazza is in desperate need of a complete renovation. This includes décor, menu and staff. They have massive potential with their gluten free + traditional pizza/pasta menu, but need to tap into their alternative area and start providing what their potential customers want.
