Kiwi Kitchen follows chef Richard Till as he tours New Zealand on a quest to seek out iconic New Zealand food. Travelling the length and breadth of the country, Kiwi Kitchen meets local characters who cook the food we remember so fondly, takes a look at the origin of the dishes, and finds out why it has become part of New Zealand’s cultural identity.
From muttonbird on Stewart Island, to a Central Otago high-country roast, to Bombe Alaska created by a TV chef from days gone by, Kiwi Kitchen discovers dishes that have refused to die with their decade. Chef Richard Till hosts the series and in his own kitchen recreates versions of the food we have seen.
Using his own style and flair, he modifies the classics to provide a three-course meal which caters to our contemporary lifestyles. Kiwi Kitchen is a quirky irreverent celebration of the last 150 years of kiwi cuisine.
