Series 1 · Episode 1

John kicks off his trip in Sydney to explore the city's large vibrant Vietnamese community, then catches up with an old friend, chef Neil Perry and discovers the secret behind Neil's dry aged beef.


Series 1 · Episode 2

John's tour of Sydney continues as he explores the Lebanese and Chinese communities. Next he hits the beach to see if he's got what it takes to be a real Aussie lifesaver, then it's off to the Sydney fish market.


Series 1 · Episode 3

John goes diving for abalone, a delicacy of the sea, then cooks up a Chinese style abalone stir fry. At the Tall Ships Festival, John gets roped into a tug of war competition and cooks up a naval feast of clam chowder.

John's visit to Tassie continues, where he visits a cattle farm specialising in beer fed beef, and cooks beef and asparagus rolls with horseradish mayo. Then he recreate a dish that he brought to the UK, salt and pepper squid.


Series 1 · Episode 5

John heads to the Great Barrier Reef to cook lunch for Aussie lifeguards - chicken and pork satay with mango salad. Then he visits the Daintree Rainforest, before knocking up a decadent double chocolate and rum mousse.

In Queensland, John visits a tropical fruit farm with over 150 varieties of rare exotic fruit. After a stop off in Cairns' busy food market, John heads out to the outback stopping off for a beer and a steak Aussie style.


Series 1 · Episode 7

John tracks down an award-winning Vietnamese restaurant and whips up fresh Vietnamese rolls in their kitchen garden. John catches up with Maggie Beer and fulfils a lifelong ambition of cooking with his food idol.


Series 1 · Episode 8

John catches up with Poh Ling Yeow in Adelaide, who cooks him a Malaysian beef Rendang for lunch. Then it's off to the coast to track down John's favourite native Australian shellfish, freshwater langoustines.


Series 1 · Episode 9

John goes back to his roots in Melbourne, the city where he grew up. He visits the Queen Victoria Market and cooks for an old mentor. Then it's down to Torquay, where John fires up the grill for a beach barbie.


Series 1 · Episode 10

John cooks with Benjamin Cooper, executive chef at Chin Chin, and together they make a Thai feast of jungle curry and chicken and crab noodle salad. Then John joins his family and creates a dinner party for old family friends.
