France Soir

11 Toorak Road, South Yarra VIC 3141

Ph. (03) 9866 8569

The food here is simple and unpretentious with some favourites, such as oysters opened at the bar, marintaed salmon, steak with bearnaise sauce and chips, and crème brulee ( as good as in Paris- if not better!

). Special dishes appear daily written in large French white scral on the mirrors.

French waiters provide fast, professional service, welcoming you at all times of the night- the kitchen is open til midnight. It is always busy with casually dressed locals popping in for a quick bite on their way home from work, to the highly fashionable, entertaining international guests, to the post theatre supper crowd later in the evening.

With the owner, Jean Paul Prunett being as passionate about wine as he is, France Soir has won several national wine list awards for teh large 'bible' it offers, containing a choice from over 1200 French and Australian wines.

It is consistently fantastic food and the atmosphere is always buzzy and friendly, a great place to eat out, not cheap though

IMy family and I have been going to this French restaurant for over 20 years, it is always consistently beautiful with authentic French waiters and fabulous cuisine. It does not matter what you order you could be blind folded, point to the menu and whatever was served to you, you would be happy with.
How many restaurants can you say that about?

The food is the sensational bistro fare typical of the the best in Paris. The place buzzes, the mirrored walled decor intensifies the atmosphere and the French accented waitors completes the setting. They also know their stuff. Not cheap but I keep going back.
