Divine comfort food for winter, do not try these if you are dieting :) My Babcia's (Polish grandmother) recipe.
Grate the potatoes and the onions into a large bowl.
Add the egg and flour and combine.
Season with salt and pepper.
Heat oil in frypan (about 1cm depth is required to fry pancakes) and drop tablespoons of the mixture into the hot oil and fry on both sides.
Put finished product on kitchen paper to absorb some of the excess oil.
Now, you can serve one of two ways.... savoury or sweet.
For savoury, eat with sour cream and some fried bacon if you really feel the need (!!!) OR you can serve with caster sugar. My preference is sweet, sounds odd, but it really works.
