Moist and delicious Banana Bread sweetened with dark chocolate chips


  • 2 cups self-raising flour

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 3/4 cup brown or white sugar

  • 2 eggs beaten

  • 3 very large bananas

  • 1/2 cup dark choc chips

  • pinch salt


  • 1.

    Preheat oven to 175 degrees C.

  • 2.

    Lightly grease a 9 x 5cm loaf tin.

  • 3.

    Cream together butter and sugar.

  • 4.

    Stir in beaten eggs and mashed bananas.

  • 5.

    Sift flour, baking soda and salt and mix lightly into the banana mixture.

  • 6.

    Add choc bits and stir.

  • 7.

    Pour into tin.

  • 8.

    Bake in oven 60 minutes or until small skewer inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean.


Serve toasted or microwave long enough to warm through.
Can be frozen.
Kids love this with a glass of cold milk for afternoon tea and it makes the house smell wonderful and welcoming!
