This was an experiment. We have 2500 kiwi fruit vines so I am always looking for new ways to use them. As we are on a farm we have easy access to fresh marron from our dam.


  • 4 Fresh Marron

  • 1 Kiwi Fruit

  • 4 Cloves of purple garlic

  • 1 Red Chilli

  • 60g Butter

  • Salt & Pepper to taste


  • 1.

    Clean & split the marron lengthways

  • 2.

    In a food processor blitz to combine other ingredients

  • 3.

    Put a generous smear of marinade on each marron

  • 4.

    BBQ and enjoy!


Kiwi fruit is a great tenderisor so makes the marron melt in your mouth. The garlic and chilli gives it just enough zing without masking the delicate flavour of the marron. We have also done the same with squid.
