My husband is as fussy as a child and doesn't even like onion so I simplified my shepherds pie recipie down to this

  • 1 tin baked beans

  • mince beef (quantity to suit the number eating)

  • a good dash of worcestershire sauce

  • a dash of tabaso sauce

  • enough potatoes for your dish

  • a splash of milk

  • a good knob of butter

  • a sprinkling of grated cheese (optional)

  • 1.

Boil the potatoes and mash with milk and butter (I don't peel them but if my husband wants to - he prefers it that way - he can). Season to taste.

  • 2.

Meanwhile, pour the tin of beans into a reasonably deep casserole dish and turn the oven on to 180 degrees.

  • 3.

Fry the mince until brown then add worcestershire and tabasco sauces to taste.

  • 4.

Place the mince on top of the beans in the casserole dish then top with mash.

  • 5.

Roughly fork the mash to form peaks, add cheese on top if desired (and if diet allows).

  • 6.

Cook in the oven for around 20-30 minutes until brown on top.

  • 7.
