Yummy stewed apples with a healthy oat crumble


  • 1 cup rolled or quick oats

  • 0.5 cup plain flour

  • flaked or slivered almonds

  • 4-5 apples, peeled, sliced and stewed

  • cinnamon

  • butter

  • shredded coconut optional


  • 1.

    Peel and core apples and slice

  • 2.

    Put in saucepan with some water and sprinkle of cinnamon

  • 3.

    Cook on medium heat until soft

  • 4.

    Place in a baking dish

  • 5.

    To make crumble melt some butter and add the oats and flour (and coconut) until it forms a crumbly mixture

  • 6.

    Spoon over stewed apples

  • 7.

    Sprinkle almonds over crumble and put a couple of knobs of butter on top

  • 8.

    Sprinkle with some extra cinnamon and bake at 180C until slightly brown on top

  • 9.

    Serve with custard, cream or icecream


you can add blueberries to the apples
