Family recipe from the States - great because you make it the day before. Put it in a glass bowl and it looks great and tastes better.


  • 1 iceberg lettuce

  • 1/2C celery, chopped

  • 1/2C green capsicum, chopped

  • 1/2C onion chopped

  • 1 250g pkt frozen baby peas, cooked, drained & cooled

  • 1 500g jar of mayonnaise (spread evenly over top) (might not have to use whole jar)

  • 2T Sugar, sprinkled over mayonnaise

  • 1kg bacon, fried and crumbled

  • 500g grated cheese


  • 1.

    Fill large bowl (preferably glass for presentation) 1/2 full of broken lettuce.

  • 2.

    Add the above ingredients, 1 layer at a time, in the order given.

  • 3.

    Refrigerate for at least 8 hours

Can vary the ingredients as well - add chopped up boiled eggs, use red capsicum, yellow capsicum, or mixture of 3, red onion, corn to add different colour.

I know adding sugar sounds weird but it doesnt have a sweet taste.
