  • 750 grams chuck steak diced

  • 2 tablespoons plain flour

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 3 medium carrots, thinly sliced

  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings

  • 1 can (250 grams) tomato puree

  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup vinegar

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce


  • 1.

    Stir beef, flour and salt in a 2 litre casserole dish until beef is coated. Add remaining ingredients.

  • 2.

    Microwave, covered, at HIGH (100%) 5 minutes. Reduce power to MEDIUM (50%). Microwave until beef is tender, 50 minutes to 1 hour, stirring 2 or 3 times during cooking. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes. Serve over rice or noodles if desired.
