Tasty Ribs first oven cooked and finished on the grill
Please read this entire page before commencing.
Make SBQ sauce at least one day in advance (keeps in fridge 2 months)
Mix together (using Bamix appliance or similar) and pour into a large glass jar.
Have butcher cut each rack in half through the bone to make shorter ribs
Sprinkle with water and lots of salt
Put in disposable roaster and cover with double foil
Bake in oven 180C or for 1 to 1 ½ hours until fork comes out easily. For large amounts of ribs it may take up to 2 hours. Check after 1 hr.
To bake in covered BBQ, prepare as above, preheat to Medium, and check after 45 minutes. Move uncooked ribs to top to pan if necessary.
Make Basting Sauce
Spread basting sauce on each rib, meat side
Cook other side first 4 minutes on BBQ
Cook meat side another 4 minutes on BBQ
Serve ribs on large platter and put SBQ sauce on table to use as a Dipping Sauce. This is a semi hot sauce that can be made hotter if you prefer by adding more cayenne or chilis. Do your own thing.
