Great filling can be used in all sorts of pastry for serving.

Ingredients

  • 60 gm margarine

  • 3 shallots or a small onion

  • 1/3 cup plain flour

  • 1/2 cup cream

  • salt and pepper

  • 1 bbq chicken diced

  • 4 slices of shoulder ham

  • 1 cup of chicken stock

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry

Method

  • 1.

    Heat margarine in saucepan, fry shallots until soft. Add flour and stir over low heat for 2 minutes.

  • 2.

    Remove from heat and gradually add stock and cream. Season to taste.

  • 3.

    Stir till sauce thickens. When thickened remove form heat add diced chicken and ham. Allow to cool.

  • 4.

    Divide mixture between the 2 sheets of pastry and make into strudel shape.

  • 5.

    You could also make 1 large pie.

  • 6.

    Brush with milk and slash holes in tops.

  • 7.

    Bake in hot oven 200c for 20-25 minutes or till golden.

  • 8.

    Serve with vegetables

Notes

For parties make mini rolls or little pies or even flatten bread and spread strudel on and roll up.
Mixture can be made ahead of time and just put in pastry when needed.
