Take a few simple ingredients and create a healthy and tasty snack the whole family will enjoy.


  • 1 x 30cm wholemeal pita pocket bread

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs

  • 100g shredded 97% fat free shaved ham

  • 100g diced (skin free) barbecue chicken

  • 50g reduced fat shaved mild salami (each slice cut into 4 pieces)

  • 1 cup grated reduced fat cheddar cheese

  • 1 tablespoon finely grated parmesan cheese

  • BBQ sauce


  • 1.

    Preheat oven to 240 (fan forced) degrees celsius

  • 2.

    Spread tomato paste over pita bread and sprinkle with herbs

  • 3.

    Evenly spread the shredded ham and diced chicken over the base

  • 4.

    Sprinkle with grated cheeses

  • 5.

    Place pieces of salami on top of cheeses

  • 6.

    Put on a swirl of BBQ sauce

  • 7.

    Bake on top shelf of oven for 7 minutes

  • 8.

    Cut into 6 pieces and serve.


Have some extra ingredients on hand as the kids will want you to make more or even make one themselves. Any cooked low fat meats can be used.
