Try this recipe for delectable country style plum wine.


  • 3lbs of plums

  • ½ ounce fresh yeast

  • 1 gallon of water

  • 4lbs of sugar

    Wash plums briefly. Make a sugar syrup with water and sugar. Pour over the plums and boil for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture and pour into a bucket as the mixture will bubble. Scatter the yeast over the top and leave for ten days.

    It will bubble and ferment. When the bubbling has reduced, put into a demi-john. Leave the mixture and put a syphon tube in the top of the bottle and half fill with sterilised water. Once the bubbling has died down, the wine is ready to drink.

  • 3.

    Please remember that this is a country wine and as such will be cloudy and not clear, but this will not affect the flavour.
