There's no meat in this fruity snack, but it is shaped like a salami. It's a healthy nibble to bridge the gaps between meals.

  • 250g ready-to-eat prunes

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground star anise

  • 1 tsp finely grated orange zest

  • 1 tsp sesame seeds

  • 25g shelled hazelnuts, toasted and chopped

  • 1.

Toast the nuts in the oven at 190c/375f/gas mark 5 for about 15 minutes, or chop them first and then fry them in a dry frying pan over medium heat.

  • 2.

Roughly chop the prunes (you can do this in the food processor) then mix well the remaining ingredients.

  • 3.

Transfer to a piece of clingfilm and shape into a log, twisting the ends of the clingfilm tightly. Store in the fridge until required.

  • 4.

Cut a portion in slices as a quick snack straight from the fridge.
