Ready-bought popcorn tastes bland in comparison to these fiery fellas. Fun to make and eat - and one of the cheapest canapes around.


  • 115g (4oz) pack microwave popcorn

  • 40g (1oz) butter

  • 1 small clove garlic, crushed

  • grated rind half a lemon

  • pinch dried chilli flakes

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt


  • 1.

    Cook the popcorn according to the pack instructions.

  • 2.

    Meanwhile melt the butter in a small pan and add the garlic, lemon rind, chilli and pepper.

  • 3.

    Pour over the popcorn and add the salt.

  • 4.

    Shake well until the popcorn is evenly mixed.

  • 5.

    Serve at once. It will soften after an hour.
