These are fun and easy to make. Cut into chunks and serve with after-dinner coffee, or snap into shards and use to decorate cakes, ice-cream sundaes.

  • 350g dark chocolate

  • 2 tbsp demerara sugar

  • 4 drops peppermint essence

  • 1.

Melt the chocolate in a bowl and in another bowl combine the sugar with the peppermint and mix.  Add the chocolate and then spread the mixture on a tray lined with cling film and place in the freezer until set.

  • 2.

Remove the chocolate from the freezer and break into pieces. Eat as they are or serve with coffee or mugs of hot chocolate.
