This simple mulled wine recipe is the perfect tipple for a cold night.

Ingredients

  • 10 cloves

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1/4 cup caster sugar

  • 1 shake of nutmeg

  • zest of 1 orange

  • 1 apple sliced

  • 500mL of water

  • 1L of red wine* (See notes)

Method

  • 1.

    Heat the spices, fruit and water in a saucepan over medium heat

  • 2.

    Bring to the boil, then simmer for 10 minutes

  • 3.

    Add the red wine, simmer for a further 5 minutes

  • 4.

    Strain and serve
