This easy-to-make breakfast treat will renew your love for good ol' baked beans on toast.


  • Olive oil spray

  • 1 medium brown onion, finely diced

  • 1 clove garlic, crushed

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika

  • 200g canned no-added-salt chopped tomatoes

  • 2 teaspoons no-added-salt tomato paste

  • 1 tablespoon salt-reduced tomato sauce

  • 1 tablespoon Holbrooks Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground chili

  • 200g canned cannellini beans, drained and rinsed

  • 2 slices Helga’s Lower Carb 5 Seeds bread, toasted

  • Coarsely chopped parsley, to serve


  • 1.

    Spray a heavy based saucepan liberally with olive oil. Place over a medium/low heat and cook onion, stirring occasionally, until softened. Add garlic and paprika and stir for 1 minute longer.

  • 2.

    Add tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, chili and cannellini beans. Mix well and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • 3.

    Serve on toasted bread and sprinkle with parsley.
