Get creative in the kitchen with a cute masterpiece the kids will love.


  • Vanilla Sugar Biscuits

  • 440g unsalted butter

  • 395g caster sugar

  • 2 tbs vanilla sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 tbs vanilla bean paste

  • 850g plain flour

  • Chocolate Biscuits

  • 110g unsalted butter

  • 100g caster sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 160g plain flour

  • 52g cocoa powder

  • Ginger Spiced Biscuits

  • 110g butter, unsalted

  • 75g dark brown sugar

  • 2 tsp cinnamon ground

  • 2 tsp ground ginger ground

  • 1 tsp ground cloves ground

  • 1 egg

  • ¼ cup molasses

  • ¼ cup golden syrup

  • 3 cups plan flour

  • Pinch of salt

  • Sugar Syrup

  • 2 cups caster sugar

  • Royal Icing

  • 1 egg white

  • 1 lemon juice

  • 2 cups icing sugar, pure

  • 50g fondant white

  • Few drops of green food colouring

  • Few drops of red food colouring

  • Few drops of yellow food colouring

  • Few drops of pink food colouring

  • 400g icing sugar

  • ½ tsp poppy seeds

  • 1 tsp of 100’s & 1000’s

  • 40g cocoa powder


  • 1.

    Make sugar biscuits by creaming together butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla then flour and 2 tbsp vanilla sugar. Bring together to dough and roll out. Cut out all 3 house walls, roof and base. Shape mini bread baguettes, loafs and sprinkle with poppy seeds Make mini cakes and baguettes, cut out small circles for the stepping stones. Bake at 180 degrees celsius for 5-10 minutes.

    Make chocolate biscuits as above, roll out large rectangle and bake.

  • 3.

    Ginger biscuits; cream together sugar and butter, add spices and salt, eggs, molasses and golden syrup. Add flour and mix until just combined. Cut out scalloped roof, shelves clock, bench, trees, and garden beds.

  • 4.

    Make royal icing by mixing egg white with lemon and adding ½ cup icing sugar and more if needed.

  • 5.

    Make caramel to glue house together by melting sugar. Assemble the scene.

  • 6.

    Colour fondant with different colours and make small flowers with the cutters to go up the side of the house. Crumble the large piece of chocolate biscuit to resemble soil for garden beds.
