This slow cooked pork shoulder will be the star of your next barbeque. 


  • 1 x 40g sachet McCormick Grill Mates Tennessee Smokehouse BBQ Rub

  • 1kg pork shoulder (boneless, skin off)

  • ½ cup McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon BBQ Sauce

  • ¼ cup vinegar

  • ¼ cup tomato sauce


  • 1.

    Rub McCormick Grill Mates Tennessee Smokehouse BBQ Rub onto pork. Cover meat tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a minimum of 2hrs (or overnight).

  • 2.

    Place unwrapped pork into a medium sized roasting tray. Mix together McCormick Grill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon BBQ Sauce with vinegar and tomato sauce then pour over pork. Add 2 cups of hot water into the bottom of the roasting tray and cover tightly with foil.

  • 3.

    BBQ in a low (160°c) pre-heated BBQ for 4-6 hrs* on the warming rack or on the top of an inverted tray until meat is tender and falling apart. Turn pork every hour and ensure there is still liquid in the base of the roasting tray.

  • 4.

    Let rest for 15 minutes, pull meat apart using 2 forks and serve.
