For a delicious, creamy side to winter dishes, try this potato gratin.

  • 6-8 large potatoes, peeled

  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped

  • 2-3 sprigs of thyme

  • 500ml thickened cream

  • Butter to grease the tray

  • Salt and pepper

  • 150 gm Gruyere or cheddar cheese to finish the dish

  • 1.

Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius (160 degrees fan forced).

  • 2.

Insert the spindle with the slicing blade (set on approximately 30mm) into your Electrolux Masterpiece food processor (or similar product). Press the power button followed by the start button and slice the potatoes.

  • 3.

Mix cream, garlic and thyme and season strongly with salt and pepper (consider the cream has to season all the potatoes therefore it should taste really well seasoned).

  • 4.

Brush a 15cm by 15 cm mould/baking tray (or use a deep frying pan) with butter, place a layer of potato slices in, and pour some cream over and repeating this process until all the potatoes stacked into the tray just covered with cream.

  • 5.

Press flat and cover with baking paper, bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes.

  • 6.

In-between wash the food processor bowl and insert the grating plate and grate the cheese.

  • 7.

Remove the paper from the gratin and cover with the cheese, switch from fan force in your Electrolux oven and turn to half grill from the oven and bake for another 5-10 minutes till the gratin has a beautiful golden colour.

  • 8.

Cut into squares and serve with your favourite grilled meat, poultry or seafood.
