For a filling breakfast option, why not try bircher muesli with in-season Kanzi apples.


  • 3 cups natural rolled oats

  • 1 cup milk

  • ¾ cup orange juice

  • 1 ½ cups water

  • ¾ cup greek style yoghurt

  • 2 tablespoons sultanas

  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 Kanzi apple (or other variation)

  • ¼ cup chopped pecans, toasted

  • ¼ cup skinned chopped hazelnuts, toasted

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 Kanzi apple, extra, to serve


  • 1.

    Place the oats in a large bowl and pour in the milk, orange juice, water and yoghurt. Add the sultanas and cinnamon and stir the mixture until fully combined. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    After refrigerating overnight, stir through grated Kanzi apple, nuts and honey. Add a little extra milk or water if needed. Top with sliced extra apple.

    Bircher will keep in the fridge for 2-3 days. The oats will absorb the liquid so add more milk or water if desired.
