Try this tasty dinner recipe for the whole family from meal creator and delivery service, My Food Bag.


  • Meatballs

  • 300g beef mince

  • 250g rindless eye bacon, trimmed of excess fat and finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 carrot, finely grated

  • 1 zucchini, finely grated

  • 1 apple, grated

  • ¾ cup panko crumbs

  • 1 teaspoon salt C

  • Pinch of black pepper C

  • Tomato Sauce and Spaghetti

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil C

  • 1 onion, finely diced

  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves, roughly chopped

  • 2x 400g cans chopped tomatoes

  • 400g spaghetti

  • To Serve

  • ½ cup shaved parmesan

  • 1 cup basil leaves


  • 1.

    Bring a large sized pot of well salted water to the boil.

  • 2.

    Mix all the meatball ingredients together well with your hands. Roll the mixture into 3cm wide balls and flatten slightly. Set meatballs aside in the fridge to firm up while you prepare the rest of the meal.

  • 3.

    Heat olive oil in a medium sized pot on a medium heat. Fry onion until golden, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in rosemary and cook for a further 1-2 minutes or until fragrant. Pour in the tomatoes, bring to a simmer then remove from the heat.

  • 4.

    To cook the meatballs, heat a drizzle of oil in a large fry-pan on medium to high heat. Cook the meatballs in 2-3 batches for 1-2 minutes on one side, then gently turn over and continue cooking for a further 1-2 minutes or until browned. Add all the meatballs back to the fry-pan and pour over the tomato sauce. Bring to a simmer then cover and turn down the heat to low and cook the meatballs through for around 6-8 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

    While the meatballs and sauce are simmering, cook spaghetti into the pot of rapidly boiling salted water. Cook for 8-10 minutes or until al dente (just tender).

    Toss pasta through fry-pan with the meatballs and sauce until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste

  • To Serve:

    Divide spaghetti and meatballs between bowls and scatter over shaved parmesan and basil.
