Mum’s Deconstructed Apple Crumble for Beginners (with Mascarpone)

Try Gretel's apple crumble recipe!


  • 1 x can pie apples (425g)

  • 50g butter

  • 1.5 x cups self-raising flour

  • 2 x cups brown sugar

  • 1 x tsp. cinnamon

  • 1 x tub of mascarpone (don’t buy a big tub because most people prefer ice-cream)

  • 1 x small tub of quality vanilla ice-cream


  • 1.

    Preheat oven to about 150 degrees

  • 2.

    Put apples into base of flan dish or casserole dish

  • 3.

    Mix all other ingredients together until consistency of bread crumbs

  • 4.

    Spread evenly over apples and bake in moderate oven for about 20 mins or until the crumble is delightfully brown

  • 5.

    Serve with dollop of Mascarpone and ice-cream as you wish
