Bun appétit! No Easter would be complete without freshly baked hot cross buns. Westfield shares the centre’s recipe for making a meal out of this classic Easter staple.   • Deli

  • 2 eggs

  • Greengrocer

  • sliced banana, strawberries, maple syrup, to serve

  • Supermarket

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 60g butter

  • 4 hot cross buns, halved


  • 1.

    In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk and vanilla.

  • 2.

    Heat butter in a large frying pan on medium. Dip hot cross buns into egg mixture, turning to coat.

  • 3.

    Cook buns in 2 batches for 2-3 minutes each side until golden.

  • 4.

    Serve with banana and strawberries. Drizzle with maple syrup.

  • 5.

    If preferred, use fruit bread or brioche in place of hot cross buns.

  • 6.

    Top Tip: This makes a delicious breakfast or dessert — or enjoy any time!
