Make a simple *béchamel sauce.
While still hot, stir in grated cheddar cheese to melt.
Toss in cooked macaroni.
Season with salt pepper.
You can eat the creamy macaroni and cheese just like that. Or, spread into a baking dish, sprinkle over bread crumbs and parmesan, and bake at 400°F/220ºC until hot through and crisp and golden on top, about 15 minutes.
