PREPARATION: 10 minutes, COOKING: 30 minutes


  • 1 ½ cups black beans, drained and thoroughly rinsed

  • ¾ cup Natvia

  • ¼ cup cocoa powder

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 ripe banana

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon instant coffee

  • Nuts and chocolate chips, as desired


  • 1.

    Puree all ingredients (except nuts and chocolate chips) in a food processor, blender, or with an immersion blender. Blend thoroughly until well combined and smooth.

  • 2.

    Pour batter into a well greased baking dish* (5x6" for cake, or 11x7" for like an American brownie).

  • 3.

    Top with nuts and chocolate chips, if desired (or mix them in).

  • 4.

    Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes or until the top is dry and slightly cracked and the edges have pulled away from the sides of the dish.

  • 5.

    Let cool; slice and enjoy.

Lasts exceptionally well covered at room temperature.
