Time: 40 minutes. Serves: 6 as a side


  • 1 kg green beans

  • 3 tbs. olive oil

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1 bay leaf

  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes

  • ½ cup water

  • Salt

  • 200g fetta


  • 1.

    Heat a deep pan. Add oil and cook onions and garlic until soft and translucent. Add the tomatoes, bay leaf and a good pinch of salt and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and cook for 15 minutes. Now add the beans and water. Simmer for 40 minutes or until the beans are soft and completely cooked through.

    Once cooked crumble fetta over the top. Serve simply with grilled lamb, chicken, beef or fish.
