A Classic English Trifle , a quick , delicious dessert.


  • 1 packet jam sponge rolls

  • A good Slurp of Medium Dry Sherry.

  • 1 packet jelly ( raspberry or port wine).

  • 1 tin sliced peaches.

  • 1 carton ready made custard

  • 300 ml thickened cream

  • 2-3 tablespoons dessicated coconut.

  • or Glace cherries of slivered almonds to top.............


  • 1.

    1 Pkt. Jam sponge rolls ( preferably a little stale).

  • 2.

    Pour over a reasonable amount of Sherry (to Taste).I like a few good slurps....

  • 3.

    1 Pkt. Jelly ( Raspberry or Port wine ) make to packet directions & put in refrigerator until almost set........pour over sponge

  • 4.

    1 tin peaches (drained). Place decoratively over jelly........

  • 5.

    3/4 Carton ready made Custard... Pour over peaches.

  • 6.

    300ml Cream Whisked.....

  • 7.

    Top over custard............

  • 8.

    Then add either a few tablespoons , lightly oven roasted coconut,,,,,,,

  • 9.

    Or blanched ,oven roasted slivered Almonds , or Glace cherries.......

  • 10.

    Place in refrigerator overnight or 3 hours

  • 11.

    And serve..................YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Just yummy. Exactly what I was looking for - like my Mum used to make in the 'good old days'. She used to add a splash of sherry to the cream as well - quite decadent!
