This recipe is from Episode 7 of Good Chef Bad Chef Series 3


  • 6 firm pears

  • 1 pinch saffron

  • 2 cup sugar

  • 2 cardamom pod

  • 1 cinnamon quill

  • 4 allspice

  • 1 star anise


  • 1.

    Peel pear leaving stem on. Core pear.

  • 2.

    Place all ingredients in pot and add water until pears are covered. Poach until pears are just cooked. Remove from heat and allow pears to cool in liquid.

  • 3.

    Reduce liquid to a glaze to make lovely syrup.

have made this twice now and love it not only as it was easy to make but the taste and the aroma was like being in heaven
