Msakhan (Bread with onion and olive oil)

One of Arabic food and famous in the Arab world, specially in Palestine
It's prepared by a special bread called (tabun), a famous Arab Bread
i used this bread to prepare Msakhan in my way


  • 3-4 large onion (Minced finely or coarsely or like wings)

  • 1 cup olive oil

  • Sumac

  • Salt and spices to taste

  • Roasted nuts

  • ** For boiling the chicken:

  • 1-2 chicken

  • 3-4 grain of cardamom

  • 2 Laurel paper

  • 3-4 cloves

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon spices

  • 1-2 liter water

  • 3 tablespoons oil

  • 1 onion (Chopped)


  • 1.

    ** For boil chicken

  • 2.

    On fire, put the oil and onion then chicken.. and Turns it in all sides then add water, salt, spices, cardamom, laurel paper and cloves

  • 3.

    Stay it on fire till chicken cooked well

  • 4.

    Remove the chicken then add 2-3 tablespoons of onion and olive oil mixture then put it in the oven till fried

  • 5.

    Prepare the bread ( or you can use the bread that already made in bakery.

  • 6.

    Now, put the olive oil and onion on the fire, then add salt and spices and leave it on fire for 20 minutes or when the onion cooked

  • 7.

    Separate the onion from olive oil by using the refinery

  • 8.

    Put some of oil on the two sides of bread then cover the bread with onion and add sumac and nuts

  • 9.

    Repeat the previous step to all breads.

  • 10.

    Put the fried chicken over breads and you can put the Msakhan in the oven for 10 minutes to heat a little
