A comforting creamed rice desert made simply with rice, sugar and vanilla essence.


  • Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup (75g) caster sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

  • 1/2 cup (100g) uncooked, white medium grained rice


  • 1.

    Combine milk, sugar and vanilla essence in a large saucepan, then bring to the boil. Gradually add rice to the boiling milk. Reduce heat, simmer, cover, stir occasionally, for about 50mins or until rice is tender and milk is almost fully absorbed.
