Try Kyoko's dessert from week 2 of COME DINE WITH ME AUSTRALIA series 2.
Pre heat oven to 190C.
Chop dried dates and cook them in water on low heat until soft.
Stir in bi-carb soda.
In a pot on low heat melt butter.
Add sugar, eggs, flour and combine.
Add the date mixture to this and stir.
Pour the mixture into a greased and lined 20cm cake pan and bake for 40 mins.
Serve warm with warm toffee sauce.
In a pot over low heat combine all ingredients.
Simmer until melted.
