Cinnamon Toast

This is a variation on the classic French Bread or Pain Perdu, ‘lost bread’ as it is best made with your leftover stale bread

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 tablespoon Milk or Cream

  • 2 teaspoons Freshly Ground Cinnamon

  • 6 Slices white bread Stale

  • 30 g Butter

  • icing sugar to dust


  • 1.

    Place a frying pan on the heat.

  • 2.

    Lightly whisk the eggs and milk together and pour through a sieve into a bowl.

  • 3.

    Add the cinnamon.

  • 4.

    Dip both sides of the bread into the egg mixture and place on the medium hot pan.

  • 5.

    Turn over when lightly browned and cook on the other side.

  • 6.

    Serve straight from the pan, dusted with icing sugar


This is also great without the cinnamon.
