Egyptian rice with nuts

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Egyptian rice

  • 1 / 4 cup sugar

  • 3 cubes chicken stock

  • 3 and a half cup of water

  • 1 / 4 cup butter

  • 1 / 4 cup raisins

  • 1 / 4 cup pine nuts

  • for garnishing

  • 1 / 4 cup peeled hazelnuts

  • 1/ 4 cup peeled almonds

Method

  • 1.

    In the pot, put butter on low heat

  • 2.

    Add rice and stir until the rice color becomes light brown then turn heat off

  • 3.

    Put sugar in a pan on low heat until it becomes light brown

  • 4.

    Add sugar to the rice and leave until it cools down (still no fire)

  • 5.

    Add raisins and pine after the sugar cools down

  • 6.

    Boil water and add the chicken stock in another pot

  • 7.

    Add the water to the rice and turn on the fire

  • 8.

    Cook for 2 minutes on high temperature and then lower temperature and cook like ordinary rice

  • 9.

    In a pan put vegetable oil, and fry nuts and almonds until color turns golden

  • 10.

    Put nuts on top of the rice when serving
