Make a stunning looking dessert layering vanilla ice cream with chocolate, toffee sauce, banana and chopped nuts all topped off with fresh whipped cream.


  • Sundae

  • 2 Scoops vanilla ice cream

  • 2 Scoops Chocolate Ice creams

  • 1 Slice Banana

  • 2 tablespoons Chocolate Sauce . see recipe below

  • 2 tablespoons Toffee Sauce . See recipe below

  • 2 tablespoons Toasted and chopped Hazelnuts or walnuts or pecans

  • 2 tablespoons whipped cream optional

  • Chocolate Sauce

  • 110 g Dark Chocolate

  • 30 g Butter

  • 30-50 ml Water

  • A couple of tbsp of Rum Or Brandy, Grand Marnier or Vanilla extract

  • Toffee Sauce

  • 110 g Butter

  • 175 g brown sugar

  • 110 g Sugar

  • 275 g Golden Syrup

  • 225 ml Cream

  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract


  • Sundae:

  • 1.

    Take 2 sundae glasses, into each put 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream,1 scoop of chocolate ice cream,1/2 a sliced banana, then drizzle each with 1 tbsp of hot chocolate sauce,1 tbsp of hot toffee sauce, sprinkle each with 1 tbsp of toasted and chopped nuts and finish off with 1 tbsp of whipped cream!!

  • Chocolate Sauce:

  • 1.

    Place the chocolate, butter and water in a small saucepan and very gently melt it , stirring regularly do not allow it to boil , add liqueur if required. Do try to use a good quality chocolate for this , something with at least 50% cocoa solids.Keeps for weeks in the fridge , if you can manage not to eat it all in one sitting.

  • Toffee Sauce:

  • 1.

    Put all the ingredients into a saucepan on the heat , and boil for about 4 or 5 minutes , until it is smooth , stirring regularly.
