This was originally a banana muffin recipe that came from my grandmother's handwritten notes and uses Olive Oil instead of butter. I played around with the recipe and included chocolate chunks and tinned pears - just delicious!
Put the mashed bananas, eggs, oil, vanilla and sugars in a bowl and beat by hand til well combined.
Fold in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and mix til just combined.
Add the milk and juice and stir.
Stir through 3/4 of the chopped chocolate.
Fill 12 muffin pans with the mixture.
Cut each pear half in half and push segment into one side of the batter.
Sprinkle/ push the remaining chocolate chunks over the tops of each.
