This was the first Bahraini traditional sweet (dessert) that I have tried when I arrived to Bahrain 12 years ago. It consists of plain coarsely crushed biscuits mixed with dates paste and some nuts. It’s a very easy recipe to make. It’s great with a cup of coffee for any day and any time.
In a deep sauce pan, melt butter. Add dates paste and stir over low heat till dates paste in soft.
Add nuts and spices and mix well.
Add crushed biscuits. Stir well
Spread the mixture in a 9 x 11 inch 2 inch deep plate. Keep in fridge for ½ an hour or so.
Sprinkle icing sugar over the top using a siever. Cut into diamond-shapes pieces and arrange in a nice serving plate.
