Spicy, fried soft shell crabs are served with edamame pan-fried with spicy chorizo sausage and chopped chives.


  • 4 soft sell crabs

  • 400 g rice flour

  • 1 tbsp sea salt

  • 1 tbsp cracked pepper

  • 1 tbsp chilli powder

  • 1 pinch of szechwan pepper

  • 1 tbsp chinese five spice

  • 1 packet of edamame beans

  • Chopped chives

  • Sweet chilli sauce

  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds

  • Oil for frying

  • 1 lime

  • 1 chorizo sausage

    Crab - Combine the rice flour, chilli powder, szechwan pepper, sesame seeds, Chinese five spice and salt as a dry mix. Clean and portion the crabs. Place the crab portions in the dry mix and dust thoroughly. Fry the crab in really hot oil until the coat is golden. Drain off excess oil by letting stand on paper towel. Serve with garnish and sweet chilli sauce.

    Garnish – Heat the chorizo in a pan until it starts to sweat. Add the chopped chives and edamame beans. Saute season and finish with a hit of lime juice.
