Classic comfort food recipe for the good old cottage pie, made with mince beef and topped with mash potato and grated cheese.
Peel the potatoes and place in a saucepan. Cover with cold water and bring to the boil, then simmer for approximately 20 minutes or until tender (check with a fork). Drain, then return to the saucepan. Add butter/margarine and milk and mash until smooth. Place the mince in a large saucepan over a medium heat, stirring until heated through. (Alternatively, you can reheat in a microwave-safe bowl covered with clingwrap.) Mix gravy powder with half a cup of water in a jug, mix through the mince.
Preheat oven to 200C. Grease a large casserole or lasagne dish and pour the mixture into the dish. Top with mashed potato and spinkle with cheese, then cook for approximately 35 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the potato is a lovely golden brown.
