Thai Papaya Salad

I learned to make Thai Papaya salad from one of my Thai friends. The taste is so refreshing: hot, sweet, sour, very nice to go with Thai Omelette or Green Curry.

Ingredients

  • For Papaya Salad

  • 1 small green papaya (around 300 gram), peeled & grate using a special grater

  • The sauce

  • 20 gram dried shrimp, wash in hot water

  • 2- 4 small red chillies, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped

  • 1 - 2 tablespoons of fish sauce

  • 1 - 2 tablespoons of lime juice

  • 1 - 2 tablespoon of shaved palm sugar

Method

  • 1.

    The papaya salad

  • 2.

    Mix the shrimp, chillies, garlic, fish sauce, lime juice and palm sugar in a bowl

  • 3.

    Pour in the grated papaya, stir to combine

Notes

Choose the green unripened papaya

SOMETIMES WITH ADDITIONAL SHREDDED CARROT, CABBAGE AND FERMENTED BABY CRAB? SO GOOD! AS PHATTRA SAID, IT GOES WELL WITH GRILLED CHICKEN/PORK AND STICKY RISE AS WELL.
