This simple apple adn pear crumble recipe is a family pleaser and is so easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 3 golden delicious apples, peeled, cored and cut into eight wedges

  • 3 pears, peeled, cored and cut into wedges the same size as the apple

  • 1 ½ tablespoons caster sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup flour

  • 100g butter, chilled and diced

Method

  • 1.

    Preheat the oven to 180C.

  • 2.

    Place the apple and pear in a saucepan with a little water and the caster sugar. Cook until the fruit is tender.

  • 3.

    Meanwhile combine the flour, brown sugar and rub the diced butter through until you have a consistency that resembles large breadcrumbs.

  • 4.

    Place the apples, pears and their juices in an lightly greased oven proof dish, cover with crumble mix and cook for 30 to 35 minutes or until the crumble is a lovely golden brown.

Optional: you can add a cinnamon quill and some lemon zest to the apples and pears when cooking initially to add some more flavour to the crumble.
