A Middle Eastern—mainly Lebanese—spice mixture whose name also means thyme (a Mediterranean wild variety). Ingredients vary regionally, but it should contain, at least, dried thyme, dried and crushed sumac berries, sesame seeds and salt. It is used to flavour fried eggs and labna or sprinkled on bread.
