An unsweetened, thin, crisp biscuit, usually round or rectangular, made by cooking batter between two flat hot iron plates etched with a pattern on them. Wafers are traditionally served with ice cream and a sweet sauce, used to make biscuits (pictured) or curled to make ice–cream cones.
