Acerola berries are exceptionally high in vitamin C—two or three berries will meet daily vitamin C requirements. For this reason the fruit is often used commercially in vitamin C tablets and baby food. The fruit, which is similar in appearance to a cherry but with three lobes, is available in those countries in which it grows, but is more commonly found as a powder in health food shops.
